Blog 4: Wild World of Tech Standards

Welcome, fellow tech enthusiasts, to the 24/7 trap spot blog where we dive headfirst into the world of technology as it relates to teachers at the elementary level. Buckle up, because today our topic focuses on technology standards the unsung heroes and villain's to the digital age.

Let us focus our attention on the entry level into education, Kindergarten. The technology standard for them examines a range of digital technologies to create and publish writing, including working with peers, under the supervision and support of adults. This through the use of technologies like smartboards, scholastic activities, online storybook creators, and digital creative spaces like paint. Based on my current skill set I feel prepared to implement this standard because with resources like the smartboard it allows the students to hear and visualize words, letters, numbers. This also allows for the students to engage in friendly games that encourage growth and cognitive thinking.

According to a video lesson plan found on the CPALMS for teaching kindergarten level math. The lesson plan provides you with an alternative way to teach your students about comparing and contrasting different shapes that they learned and why their differences make them unique. The bubble diagram that is demonstrated in this video allows students to creatively make their own connections because they literally put the two things they are comparing and then they draw the lines and bubbles to their ideas. However the site is a great resource for newer and veteran teachers because it gives them new ways to liven up their lesson plan and foster connection with the students.

Furthermore, being proficient in internet searching as a teacher is crucial because it enables them to access a vast array of resources to enhance the teaching material and student engagement. With the world at their fingertips they have the ability to rely on up-to-date information, educational videos, lesson plans, etc. Additionally, proficient internet searches allows teachers to stay hip and current with the developing trends that students follow to further encourage engagement and foster those relationships. Moving forward I will continue to use the different databases like google, YouTube, tik tok, and common online sources in my classroom setting.
